10 new Applications for Phase IV of the Project
The Liberty Lake Centennial Rotary Club, in cooperation with The City of Liberty Lake and The Avista Corporation, is sponsoring and managing the “Liberty Lake Hometown Heroes” Banner program at selected and approved locations within the City of Liberty Lake.
The 30" by 60" banners are mounted on light standards with American Flags on Country Vista and Liberty Lake RD.
The banners honor Past and present military Veterans and those currently serving in the military. They could be current residents, past residents as well as family members or friends that have ties to Liberty lake community members.
The banners are hung prior to Memorial Day to just past Veteran’s Day. Each banner has a picture of the Veteran and some information about their service branch and dates of service as well as any honors they may have earned. The local family member or sponsor is also recognized on the banner.
Scope of project: The project now has 58 honoree banners. 48 banners and flags are installed on the light standards on Country Vista west of Liberty Lake Rd and 10 more on Liberty Lake Road. All banners are guaranteed to be displayed for 2 years at which time some banners will be renewed and each year a new group of honorees would be installed.
Family, friends or organizations can sponsor the honoree. The Veterans family or sponsor would be given the banner at the end of that period. The City of Liberty Lake, the Avista Corporation and The Liberty Lake Centennial Rotary are the named project sponsors. Sponsors of honorees are asked to donate $150 (to cover production costs) for each Banner with provisions for financial hardship and no donation requested or required from “Gold Star” families. Sponsor or family will be given the banner at end of display period.
The First 25 Banners were installed on September 13th, 2022 so they were in place prior to the Presentation of the "Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall" at Pavilion Park Sept 13-16, 2022. 14 More were installed in 2023 and an additional 19 Heroes were added in 2024.
We are now seeking applications for 2025. Applications will be open from Nov 1 2024 to February 15,2025 or until all open positions are filled. Click the application tab on the top of first page or pick one up at City Hall.
